Wheat, to eat or not to eat?

The digestive diary of a suspect celiac

I was for sure glutened at lunch today.

I heard Ben Than is a good place for celiacs, and I asked before we ordered if our choices were wheat-free.

We ordered
504 - fresh spring salad rolls
422 - deluxe pad thai
51 - taro bubble tea
53 - papaya bubble tea

She wrote - no MSG beside the food and the server confirmed it was no MSG when we brought it out. I believe I got it from the papaya bubble tea - as I am highly suspicious thier powdered flavouring has wheat in it. I perhaps could have been in the pad thai sauce, although this is unlikely. I am very frustrated as I heard they were good for helping, I obviously did not explain myself clearly.

extreme fatigue - flushed - nauseated - difficulty concentrating

Last night I made the world's most delicious 30min gluten-free meal - Got the recipe from
Don't Need no Stink'n Wheat

Tinkyada brown rice penne noodles
spinach - sauted in garlic
market sausage - sliced into bite-size pieces
tomatoes - yellow and red
basil

cook spinach, sausage and noodles separately, mix all ingredients, drizzle with olive oil

YUM!!!

This morning I mixed some cantelope with cottage cheese, I just had it for lunch and it tasted like barf. I feel sick now. probably not glutened.

I've survived my first thanksgiving. It wasn't easy. My fiance's family has a very wheat-based diet and I ending up having brussel sprouts, mushrooms and jello for dinner followed up with frozen raspberries and whip cream. however his aunt felt guilty that I couldn't eat any of the desserts and loaded me with so much whip cream I felt sick. I have a mild lactose intolerance, however I don't think this played a part, anyone would have gotten sick from that much whip cream.

Dinner at my parents was easy. I just skipped out on the stuffing. I took a chance with the gravy and I didn't experience any fatigue, a little gas but I don't think that was gluten related.

Saturday I attended a pumpkinfest and endulged in a caramel apple, which was delicious and caused no negative reactions.

I did have a plate of nachos that gave me a slight belly ache, but it passed within the hour.
